Makhoul147 is located in Hamra, one of Beirut’s busiest student hubs. It faces the American University of Beirut and is adjacent to a church and oversees the university campus and the sea.
The concept behind this student housing building is to encourage and incite interaction between the students living there. The staircases on the front of the building create a dynamic façade animated by the students themselves. They are its main architectural element and act as a meeting point to the students while also serving as the fire escape of the building. The hallways are external where up to the 6^th floor the view is towards the city and the levels up to the 9^th floor have a view of the AUB campus and the sea.
